Retainer Scope

The deliverables.

We focus purely on expert configurations, diagnostic support, and network telemetry. Since we sell no hardware and take no commissions, we deliver unbiased, rigorous engineering guidance that protects your ship's connectivity.

24/7 network telemetry & monitoring

Real-time monitoring of yacht core switch backbones, wireless access points, satcom links, and cellular uplinks with automated alerting for the ETO.

Starlink & multi-WAN load balancing

Optimization of Peplink SD-WAN profiles for Starlink Maritime, VSAT, and 5G cellular load-balancing, ensuring seamless failover and voice-over-IP priority.

Palo Alto firewall rule management

Keeping firewall policies updated, managing secure crew remote-access tunnels, isolating guest networks, and protecting critical navigation networks (OT).

Tier-3 technical advisory

Expert support for your onboard ETO or Chief Engineer. When complex network loops or Crestron NVX routing failures occur, we act as your off-vessel engineering backstop.

Onboard crew coaching & reference

Creating clean, logical network topology documentation and providing clear instructions so that crew members can troubleshoot issues independently.

System backup & recovery audit

Managing automated daily backups of Crestron code, network configs, and smart-home programming to ensure rapid restoration if a hardware failure occurs.

Pure-Play Advisory Retainer. We accept no dealer kickbacks, hardware markups, or third-party service incentives. Our advisory loyalty belongs 100% to the owner.

Palo Alto & Network Certified. Network telemetry, remote-access VPN policies, and VLAN structures managed by an experienced BT Openreach alumnus and Palo Alto certified network engineer.

ETO Marine Sea-Time. Scoped and managed by Noel Pope, active MCA ETO who has spent years on vessel rotations up to 160m+, ensuring your remote ETO protocols handle the reality of sea operations.

FAQ

Common questions.

What is a remote ETO support retainer?
It is a technical support agreement that gives your onboard crew and ETO direct access to an expert off-vessel network engineer. We provide Tier-3 diagnostics, Satcom and Starlink performance auditing, firewall rule updates, and emergency troubleshooting without vendor markups.
Does this service replace our onboard ETO?
No. We act as a technical partner and Tier-3 backstop for your onboard ETO, Captain, or Chief Engineer. We handle complex network engineering, Palo Alto security configurations, and vendor coordination, freeing up your onboard crew to focus on day-to-day operations and physical maintenance.
How do you securely access our onboard systems?
We configure dedicated, secure VPN access tunnels through your Palo Alto firewall, protected by multi-factor authentication (MFA) and strict IP-whitelisting. Access is only active when required and is fully logged for audit purposes.
What is your response time for emergency support?
Retainer agreements feature guaranteed Service Level Agreements (SLAs), including priority response times of under two hours for critical network or communications outages, and same-day resolutions for standard maintenance.
Can you support our system without a full network drawing?
We require an initial audit and documentation phase to map your systems. If you do not have drawings, we will run a scope validation or pre-purchase style survey to document the exact system architecture before support begins.
What is the pricing model for remote support retainers?
Remote ETO retainers are charged as a fixed, transparent monthly fee starting at £1,500/month for standard satcom and network monitoring, to £4,500+/month for 24/7 priority support and complex multi-vessel fleets. We never charge vendor commissions or referral fees.
